Dear Families,
Welcome to the Safari Scout Blog! We hope that you feel prepared for a great school year ahead! My name is Leigh Ann Shaw and I will be your child’s teacher this year along with three talented and compassionate assistants, Wendy Woods, Jeanne Koch and Liz Williams (afternoon session assistant)! We look forward to the year ahead as your child and our staff grows together to learn from one another. The classroom staff has planned many activities that will provide your child with meaningful learning experiences and individual learning opportunities. While it is our goal to reach the unique needs of needs of each student within our classroom, we look forward to the many lessons that the students will teach us as well. An ancient proverb reads, “Much have I learned from my teachers, more have I learned from my colleagues, but most from my students.”

Below you will find a few logistical notes and please refer to the attached notice regarding our class.
Dismissal – Children will be dismissed through the front door of the preschool. Parents may wait for the children outside on the sidewalk in front of the entrance to the preschool.
Clothes – The preschool day will offer a wide variety of experiences that may lead to a messy outcome. We use smocks whenever possible; however we cannot guarantee that that clothes remain spotless. Please send your child to school wearing clothes that support such experiences! Please send your child to school with a full extra set of clothes that can be left here in case of an accident. PLEASE LABEL ALL CLOTHING ITEMS so that we do not mix clothes.

Backpack - Please send your child to school wearing a backpack that is large enough to fit a folder.
Snack - A snack and a drink (Water is preferable) We have a nut free policy in our class. Please DO NOT send in snacks containing nuts of any kind!
